ITIL V3- Outline

ITIL (short for Information Infrastructure Library) is a set of practices created with the goal of standardising IT services management within an organisational environment. Its chief guideline implies that it is "a set of specialised orgnisation capabilities for providing value to customers in the form of services". Granted, implementing ITIL in a company means understanding the use of functions and processes to manage services over a lifecycle.

Comprising a set of five publications, the framework of a ITL-based structure relies on an iterative life cycle, as seen in the picture above. Each publication brings to the spotlight a stage in this lifecycle as shown on the following list:

    Service Strategy
    Service Design
    Service Transition
    Service Operation
    Continual Service Improvement

In a future post, we are going to go over each of the cycles comprising the ITIL framework.
