The dodo is a flightless bird which lived in the forests on the island of Mauritius. The bird was about a meter tall and capable of viciously pecking itself with its strong beak. Its diet consisted on seeds and fruits. The dodo was incapable of flight and had no natural predators until the arrival of Dutch settlers. The last living specimen died around 1690.
